Swedish indie Playground Music Scandinavia has launched a publishing division through a joint-venture deal with BMG Music Publishing Scandinavia.
The new Playground Music Publishing arm is aimed at signing and developing Scandinavian acts. Strip Music frontman and songwriter Henric De La Cour is its first signing. The band’s self-titled debut album is released by Playground Music Scandinavia.
The publishing division will be run by deputy CEO Fredrik Rundqvist and John Cloud, head of the Playground label and international. The pair report to Playground managing director Torgny Sjöö.
BMG Publishing will be an active partner in creative and financial aspects of the new company, says Cloud.
Playground Music Scandinavia is also home to Finnish chart regulars the Rasmus.
