Stefan Piendl has been appointed managing director of EMI Classics Germany, with effect from Jan. 15, 2006. Piendl was senior VP and COO of BMG Classics worldwide from June 2003 to February 2005. In his new Cologne-based role, Piendl will report to Niel van Hoff, managing director of EMI Music Germany.
Van Hoff describes Piendl as “one of the best know personalities of the German and international classic-scene. He has a very profound repertoire knowledge and
excellent connections to the artists.”
EMI Classics director Stephanie Haase temporarily assumed additional duties as head of the classical department in May 2005. Haase filled the void left by the departure of Capitol Music managing director Sylvia Kollek, who had responsibility for EMI’s classical department. Going forward, Haase will report to Piendl.
