French indie quartet Phoenix has just released the video for “Trying to Be Cool,” the second single off latest album “Bankrupt!” The stylish video was made by The Creator’s Project, a joint effort by Vice and Intel.
Under the tedious circumstances in which it was made, directors probably had a hard time keeping their cool while the video was in production. The video was shot entriely live in full takes of the song and the crew had the daunting task of continuously changing camera shots every 25 seconds, making the project almost a relay race between cameramen. The video is a constant build, with each shot outdoing the last with bursts of confetti, motorcycles, monkeys, Marilyn Monroe impersonators, and a display of absurdity too long to list.
Fans of the band can also catch them on their U.S. tour beginning in August. The dates are listed below.
