In November, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Phi Phi O’Hara spearheaded Queens United/Reinas Unidas, a drag benefit show to raise funds for Puerto Rico. The event, which featured performances from nearly 30 Drag Race queens, raised $80,000 for the charity Somos Una Voz, a disaster relief initiative started by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.
Billboard Pride caught up with some of the queens at the event to put together a video message for the people of Puerto Rico, featuring words of encouragement from the likes of Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Naysha Lopez and Jiggly Caliente.
“Puerto Rico, you are part of our heart in the United States of America,” Fontaine says. “I’m Puerto Rican. I love you from the bottom of my heart, and you’ve got our support.”
Event organizer O’Hara says, “I want you guys to know that whenever you feel like someone’s not on your side or that no one cares about you or looking out for you or has your back that I am here.”
“I love you, I adore you,” addds Naysha Lopez. “Together we can move mountains.”
“We are standing by you,” shares Jiggly Caliente. “We are going to do anything and everything we can to help you guys out.”
