Pharrell Williams, who recently snatched his seventh Grammy award and was nominated for an Oscar, is about to make fans even happier by creating a signature scent. Williams is set to join forces with Comme des Garcons on a fragrance range for men and women. In conjunction with Pharrell’s latest album, the new collection will be called “Girl,” although can be used by both sexes.
“As one of my favorite designers once said, ‘Comme des Garçons is your favorite designers’ favorite designer…the top of the top, the best of the best,’” Williams said of the partnership to WWD. “I am so honored to be working with Comme des Garçons and cherish the education that I’ve experienced in this collaboration.”
Pharrell is no stranger to the fashion industry. Aside from resurrecting the famous Buffalo Girls hat, the singer has collaborated with Moncler, created jewelry and shades for Louis Vuitton and, just this past New York Fashion Week, revealed he is the creative director of an eco-conscious collaboration between G-Star Raw and Bionic Yarn.
The Pharrell and Comme des Garçons partnership is quite unique because it marks the first time fashion icon Rei Kawakubo has teamed with a musician to create a scent. Stay tuned, more information will be released this spring before the exclusive fragrance hits stores in September 2014.
