Pharrell and Daft Punk‘s new “Gust of Wind” video — helmed by Shaun of the Dead/Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World director Edgar Wright — involves plenty of arty dancing and scenes that appear to be inspired by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. (Sadly, Pharrell is not the one flying through the air.) Watch the video below:
The video finds Pharrell sauntering through a forest in his trademark hat. Dancers spin around in bright, autumnal outfits, occasionally gliding during the hook.
Though this track features Daft Punk, they don’t appear in the video. Instead, the French duo’s chorus — sung through their signature Vocoder effect — comes courtesy of two boulder-sized helmets that fly, glow, sing, and look a bit like Boba Fett’s spaceship from Star Wars or runaway residents of Easter Island.
In short, it’s great.
