
Hurricane Dorian has ravaged the Bahamas over the last couple of days, and artists are showing their love for the battered islands on social media. Rihanna, who hails from Barbados, has already taken the lead by voicing her support, promising on Twitter that the Clara Lionel Foundation, an organization she founded in 2012 that funds “emergency response programs around the world” according to its Twitter bio, “is already figuring out how best we can help!”
Five people have been confirmed dead on Abaco Island in the northern Bahamas from Hurricane Dorian, which is now projected to head toward South Carolina and Georgia, according to The New York Times. “We are in the midst of a historic tragedy,” Bahamas Prime Minister Hubert Minnis said during a news conference.
Cardi B waved the Bahamian flag emoji via her Instagram story on Monday, according to a screenshot from Complex, while Rick Ross and Plies took to Twitter to share their prayers for the Bahamas and Pharrell requested “God’s speed toward rescues, supplies and recovery” in a tweet Tuesday (Sept. 3).

Trina also posted the island’s flag with the words “Pray for Bahamas” on Instagram, with the praying-hand emoji as part of the caption.
