Footage from recent shows in Chicago, a full concert from Japan and clips from Phantom Planet’s first public performance make up the bulk of the band’s forthcoming DVD release. Due Dec. 14 via Epic, “Chicago, Chicagogoing, Chicagogone” boasts more than three hours of footage and music.
The DVD’s main program was captured Sept. 19-20 at Schuba’s Tavern in Chicago. Performances of 16 songs, including “California,” “Big Brat” and “Nobody’s Fault,” are featured.
The disc’s bonus section houses Phantom Planet’s full set from Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival and footage of the band’s first live gig in 1995. Videos for “1st Things 1st” and “By the Bed,” plus photos and video clips shot by the band are also included.
Released in January, Phantom Planet’s self-titled third album debuted at No. 95 on The Billboard 200. The set has sold 109,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The band, which came into its own after “California” was chosen as the theme song for the Fox series “The O.C.,” recently self-released a 14-track live album and a collection of demos and rare tracks, “Negatives 2.” Both are available exclusively at PhantomPlanetBootlegs.com.
As reported earlier today, Phantom Planet contributes the sole original track to the “Stubbs the Zombie” video game soundtrack.
