More than three decades into his tenure at the company, Peter York has been promoted to president of Capitol Christian Music Group where he’ll lead CCMG’s publishing and distribution divisions along with his current responsibilities at the label group.
York has spent 19 of the last 30 years at Capitol Christian as head of the company’s label group, which includes Sparrow Records, ForeFront Records, sixstepsrecords, Hillsong and Jesus Culture. His early years at the label group were spent at Sparrow, where he developed major acts including Steven Curtis Chapman, Britt Nicole, Chris Tomlin and TobyMac.
“There is no music executive in the business more capable than Peter,” said CCMG CEO Bill Hearn, to whom York will continue to report. “He possesses a unique combination of creative intelligence and commercial understanding, as well as an exceptional ability to develop strong leaders.”
In a statement, York said he plans on operating the label, publishing and distribution groups “more collaboratively, with seamless connectivity, improved efficiencies.”
