Rocky Mountain Mall…….
Just pulling out of Denver…. en route to Boulder…..my guitar rebelled against me last night…. I think the humidity and heat from the Southern leg of this trip did not react too kindly to the dry heat/altitude of the Rockies. Nevertheless…. Hummingbird One wouldn’t stay in tune. Hummingbird Two, however, picked up the slack… and delivered the goods.
We had a day off in Denver… I went to the mall. The Cherry Creek Mall….. an exact replica of one of the malls of my Jersey youth… the Short Hills Mall…. that was the “fancy” mall when I was growing up…. much nicer than the Willowbrook Mall, which we frequented more often and was closer to my house……. they had an A&W at Short Hills.
In Denver I played an instore at a great record shop called Twist & Shout….. probably my most rarity filled performance of the tour…. played a few songs from a record I made before musicforthemorningafter (which I’ll have to put out someday). My good friend Shawn recorded the performance which will be available at the
shop in a week or so.
Minneapolis was before Denver…. we played in an area near the University called Dinkytown. Lots of young Dylan history there I was told. I couldn’t resist opening the show with “blowin’ in the wind.” It’s unfortunate how relevant that song remains.
As we travel toward boulder…. we’re watching a dvd compilation of The Old Grey Whistle Test…. that early roxy music stuff is strong.
