The Coachella lineup is out and it’s snowballing on social media. One of the early winners from the big announcement is Perfume Genius, who’s using his inclusion on the bill to escalate a years-long beef with Eminem.
While many of the artists were sharing the festival news from their accounts, the Seattle-based recording artist let this one fly: “For everyone asking…Yes I plan on fighting Eminem at Coachella. I want to joust.”

The 36-year-old indie pop producer and queer icon (real name Mike Hadreas) has been spoiling for a fight with Marshall Mathers for some years.
In 2014 he sold so-called “Feminem” shirts at his shows featuring an image of the rapper in drag and later expanded on his issue with Eminem by explaining that he thought the artist was an “asshole” and “boring.”
And he doubled-down with this tweet from November 2014, “Pretty sure I could destroy him with Just a Look, someone put us in a room together and watch Eminem slowly wither from my witch glance.

If this “joust” is to happen at Coachella, Eminem would need arrive early at the Indio, California site or Perfume Genius would have to stick around. Eminem is the headline act on day three of both weekends (April 15 and 22) while Perfume Genius is lower down the bill on day one (April 13 and 20).
Eminem, who is still waiting for a reaction to his vicious takedown of President Trump, hasn’t responded to Perfume Genius’ bait.
