People magazine revealed Wednesday morning (April 18) that Pink was crowned “Most Beautiful” as the cover star of the mag’s Beautiful Issue for 2018. The mom of two appeared on the magazine’s front page with her adorable children Jameson Moon, 1, and Willow Sage, 6.
Born Alecia Moore, Pink is the perfect cover girl for this year’s issue. Since emerging on the music scene in the early 2000s, the 38-year-old singer has always proved that originality and authenticity make for true beauty, delivering an empowering message about confidence and beauty while accepting her Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards last year.
People’s Beautiful Issue has been revamped a couple of times since its inaugural issue in 1990. Up until this year, it featured the “Most Beautiful Woman” on its cover, which was preceded by a round-up of the “50 Most Beautiful” celebrities. People’s Editor-in-Chief Jess Cagle explained the most recent name change in an editor’s note and stressed that the Beautiful Issue “is not a beauty contest.”
“As always it will feature beautiful women (and a few men) of all shapes, sizes and colors, and it will celebrate the most beautiful qualities of all: strength, humanity and artistry,” Cagle said.
In previous years, a variety of female stars have taken the cover (aside from Mel Gibson in 1996), including Michelle Pfeiffer on the inaugural cover in 1990; Jennifer Aniston in 2004 and 2016; and Julia Roberts, who has graced the cover a record five times. Before Pink, only two musicians had been “Most Beautiful” cover stars: Jennifer Lopez in 2011 and Beyonce in 2012.
With so many gorgeous and kindhearted females in the music industry today, there are plenty more options for future Beautiful Issue cover stars. Who deserves the crown in future issues? Vote below.
