Peermusic, the independent music publishing company based in Richmond, Calif., has signed a long-term exclusive worldwide publishing deal with UK-based songwriter/producer Steve Mac.
The deal encompasses Mac’s Rokstone catalogue, including hits by Westlife, Il Divo and Boyzone, as well as his future writing/publishing. Peer says it won the deal after a bidding war with other publishing companies.
“Steve Mac is one of the most talented writers/producers that we have in the world today,” said UK managing director Nigel Elderton, who announced the deal. “He is totally committed to the artists with whom he works and is a consummate professional; his list of accomplishments speaks for itself.”
That list includes – as a producer and/or writer – 88 Top 20 singles and albums, with 45 of these hitting number one on various charts around the globe, and a total of 146 worldwide top 40 singles and albums, according to a press release on the signing.
Artists that he’s written and produced for also include Leona Lewis, Ronan Keating, Katherine Jenkins, Kelly Clarkson, Simon Webbe, Kate Winslet, Melanie C, Lee Mead, Delta Goodrem and Clay Aiken.
He is currently in the studio completing the new album for Il Divo, scheduled for November release.
