Mark Pedowitz, president of Touchstone Television and executive VP of ABC Entertainment Television Group, has been elected to the BMI board of directors.
The announcement by chairman Cecil Walker came today (Nov. 17) in New York following the organization’s annual shareholders meeting. Atlanta-based Walker, former president/CEO of Gannett Broadcasting, was reelected as chairman. Dallas-based John “Jack” Sander, president of media operations for Belo Corp., was elected as vice chairman.
Reelected to the BMI board were: N. John Douglas, chairman/CEO of AIM Broadcasting in Palo Alto, Calif.; Catherine Hughes, founder/chairperson of Radio One in Lanham, Md.; Jerome Kersting, executive VP/CFO of Clear Channel Radio in San Antonio; and K. James Yager, CEO of Barrington Broadcasting in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
Continuing in their terms are: Del Bryant, president/CEO of BMI; Amador Bustos, president/CEO of Bustos Media Holdings in Sacramento, Calif.; Craig Dubow, president/CEO of Gannett Co. in McLean, Va.; Kenneth Elkins, president/CEO of Pulitzer Broadcasting and retired senior VP of Pulitzer Publishing in St. Louis, Mo.; Virginia Hubbard Morris, president of Hubbard Broadcasting in St. Paul, Minn.; Philip Jones of Mission Hills, Kan.; Frank Melton, mayor of the city of Jackson, Miss.; G. Neil Smith, president of GNS Media in Liberty, S.C.; and George Willoughby of Seattle.
BMI was founded by a group of broadcast executives in 1939. It represents more than 300,000 songwriters, composers and publishers in all genres of music.
