The Hangout Music Festival today announced its 2011 line-up, which includes Paul Simon, Foo Fighters, Widespread Panic, The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, Flaming Lips and Cee Lo Green.
The festival, now in its second year, will run the weekend of May 20 – 22 on the beaches of Gulf Shore, Alabama near the border with Florida.
This year a fifth music stage inside an air-conditioned tent is being added to the event as as well as an area called Hammock Beach complete with hammocks, art installations, a lagoon, and a sky-bar tower with a panoramic view. Other new attractions include an extended kids’ area, family events, late night deejays, and shuttle service between stages.
Nicknamed “Coachella on the beach,” this year Hangout includes a number of bands that have either played the Indio, Calif. festival or would easily fit in. This includes bands such as Primus. Michael Franti & Spearhead, Pretty Lights, Girl Talk, Ween, Matisyahu, Warren Haynes Band, Drive-By Truckers, G. Love & Special Sauce, Medeski, Martin & Wood , Galactic , Xavier Rudd , Minus the Bear. Portugal the Man, Easy Star All-Stars and Mariachi El Bronx.
Part of the Hangout Fest’s appeal is its abundance of housing options with over ten thousand nearby and affordable vacation rental condominiums, beach houses and traditional hotel rooms.
Tickets to this year’s event go on sale tomorrow, Feb. 2nd at 9:00 a.m. and can be purchased on the festival’s website.
