Producer/DJ Party Thieves is ready to celebrate with his newest release. “50,000 [followers] on Soundcloud is a good milestone,” he tells Billboard, “so I wanted to give the fans something more than just a three minute song.”
“50K,” the Hot 100 Music Festival DJ’s new half-hour-long remix, is premiered exclusively below — a gift to his fans that includes some unreleased tracks. “The first song is an unreleased song,” he says, “so they’ll get to hear some new music right off the bat.”
The former West Point cadet hasn’t taken the most traditional path to life on the 1’s and 2’s. After four years in military school (where he studied computer science), he says, “I was definitely not lined up lifestyle-wise to produce or be a DJ.”
Now, after playing festivals like EDC Las Vegas (as a part of Insomniac’s Discovery Project), he’s headed to Billboard’s own Hot 100 Music Festival. “It’s just crazy to see my name amongst some of the other names on the lineup, like Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj — people that I would never really see myself playing anything with,” he says. “I think it’s gonna be a cool experience to play with that caliber of artist.”
As for what’s next for the up-and-coming artist, he’s been working on collaborations with ?Z, Jackal, Slander, and “a few other big names,” and also has an official remix of Icona Pop‘s “Emergency” dropping tomorrow (July 31).
