Party Favor is set to release his forthcoming debut album Layers this April. First, the L.A.-based DJ and producer has decided to give fans a taste of what’s to come by exclusively sharing the lead single “Reach For Me” via Billboard Dance, before it’s out worldwide this Friday (Feb. 21).
The track is a collaboration with bass boomer graves, who has worked with everyone from Flosstradamus and Post Malone to RL Grime. “We started working on this track during the early summer of 2018 and finished it up over the course of a few sessions in the fall,” says Party Favor. “This track is very cinematic and wanna come out of the gate strong.”
With respect to the upcoming LP, he adds that it’s “a reflection of my mind and though process throughout 2018 and into 2019. Layers will be coming out on my label Area 25, something I really have not talked about too much yet. The label is something I have wanted to create for years, and I’m so excited that my first album will debut on my very own label!”
A deeply personal work, Layers marks an artistic evolution for the producer born Dylan Ragland, with softer, more cinematic sounds coming alongside his signature bass. The album’s cover art was illustrated by the same tattoo artist that did all of Ragland’s own ink. This imagery represents his “layers” as an artist and person, with the mountains, Hollywood Sign, waves, energy, the number 25 and New York City all symbolizing various stages of Ragland’s life and career.
Party Favor hits the road in support of Layers this spring, with a run of West Coast states starting mid-April. See the complete tour schedule and listen to “Reach For Me,” below.
