“When you’re singing in a congregation, you’re not so self-conscious,” Parker Millsap told NPR earlier this year. “You’re just singing… You’re not singing to impress somebody; you’re not singing to win American Idol.”
He brings this approach to his latest video. In the “Pining” clip, Millsap croons from a variety of amusingly fake settings — sitting in the back seat of a speeding car with no driver, struggling to stay upright in a small boat. The video ends with a man overboard, but he gets a kiss for his troubles.
“Pining” appeared in March on Millsap’s The Very Last Day album. On the most recent Americana Radio Airplay chart, the title track to the album was No. 4.
