As expected, Paradigm Artists, a talent and literary agency based in Los Angeles, has acquired boutique booking agency Monterey Peninsula Artists, based in Monterey, Calif. The MPA roster includes such hard-touring acts as Aerosmith, Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio, the Dead, Toby Keith, Gov’t Mule and Black Eyed Peas.
MPA — founded nearly 30 years ago by principles Dan Weiner and Fred Bohlander — has grown into one of the largest U.S. boutique booking agencies, with satellite ofices in New York and Nashville. Bohlander, Weiner and the entire MPA staff (including such well-known agents as Jonathan Levine, Chip Hooper, Bobby Cudd, Ray Shelide, Curt Motley, James Yelich, Stephanie Mahler and Steve Dahl) will continue on in the same capacity, operating as the music division of Paradigm. The division will retain the Monterey Peninsula name.
Paradigm’s acquisition of MPA is the latest move in an aggressive campaign that saw the company acquire literary firms Genesis and Writers & Artists Agency earlier this year. Paradigm has offices in Los Angeles and New York, and provides representation in motion pictures, television, commercials, theater and now live music.
