Brad Paisley and George Strait lead the field with five nominations each for the Country Music Association Awards, which take place in November in Nashville. Paisley is up for entertainer, male vocalist, album (for “5th Gear”), single (for “Ticks”) and video (for “Online”), which was directed by actor-turned-video director Jason Alexander.

Songwriters Bill Anderson, Buddy Cannon and Jamey Johnson were nominated for song of the year for Strait’s “Give It Away.” The announcements were made a press conference in Nashville today.
Meanwhile, reigning entertainer of the year Kenny Chesney, Alison Krauss and Martina McBride each received four nominations and Big & Rich’s John Rich, reigning female vocalist Carrie Underwood and three-time male vocalist Keith Urban each scored three nods each.
