Rock veteran Alice Cooper revealed the nominations for the 2008 Classic Rock Roll of Honor in London earlier today.
It was also announced that Ozzy Osbourne will be this year’s recipient of the Living Legend award. Previous winners include Jimmy Page, Motorhead’s Lemmy and Alice Cooper.
“I hear I’m a Living Legend, which is something I am grateful for,” says Ozzy Osbourne in a statement.
The rest of the winners will be announced at the ceremony on Nov. 3 at the Park Lane Hotel in London.
The monthly magazine’s awards launch also featured a performance from U.K. rock act Stone Gods.
Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Led Zeppelin are up for three awards. Zeppelin are in the running for band of the year, DVD of the year and event of the year for their comeback gig at the O2 Arena. Def Leppard and Whitesnake are both given the nod for album and band of the year, and their joint tour is also nominated for event of the year.
Kiss are up for two gongs for band of the year and event of the year for their performance at Download festival. There are also two nominations each for newcomers Stone Gods and Big Linda – for best new band and album of the year.
Public voting begins from Aug. 20 in Classic Rock Magazine and from Aug. 16 August at classicrockmagazine.com. Other awards to be presented on the night include classic songwriter, showman award, outstanding contribution, classic album and metal guru.
