After hitting a nearly ten year high in 2014, the Oscars ratings succumbed to gravity a bit on Sunday night — at least in the early returns.
According to metered market ratings, this year’s show dropped 10 percent to an average 25 rating among households and a 38 share. In the targeted adults 18-49 demographic, Local People Meters give the show a 14.2 rating. That’s down two-tenths of a point from last year.
These averages are based on time zone adjustments for the period of 8:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET, though the official Nielsen end-time will be 11:47 p.m. ET when final ratings are available later on Monday.
