President Winfrey? It does have a nice ring to it.
On Sunday (Jan. 7) night Golden Globe Awards host Seth Meyers joked with both the crowd and viewers at home and called for Oprah Winfrey to be our next President. In his opening monologue, Meyers mentioned his 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner hosting gig, and how he then joked about current President Donald Trump not being qualified to be president.
“Some have said that night convinced him to run. So, if that’s true, I just want to say, Oprah, you will never be president,” he joked. “You do not have what it takes.”
Winfrey and the crowd found the remark to be not only hilarious, but also possible — especially after the incredible speech she gave upon receiving the Cecil B. DeMille Award during the ceremony, which brought the crowd to their feet (and had celebrities excitedly tweeting).
When asked about her potentially running, her longtime partner Stedman Graham told the Los Angeles Times, “It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it.”
