One Direction’s single “Steal My Girl” is about a guy with a gem of a girlfriend whom the entire world covets; the music video for “Steal My Girl” is… not about that. Instead, 1D decamps to the desert with their new pal Danny DeVito to, essentially, mess stuff up. Watch the video, which premiered on Friday morning (Oct. 24), below:
“We’ve come to the most barren place on earth… to create!” One Direction’s new video director, played by DeVito, declares in the clip. “Today, we bring life to the desert.” Indeed, the desert becomes more lively when One Direction is accompanied by sumo wrestlers, marching bands, zoo animals and ballerinas. Everyone seems to be having a blast, but the highlight of the clip is still the arena-rock-aping song itself, with the U.K. quintet crooning the hook together amidst all the hijinks.
Don’t Look Now, But One Direction Is Making Great Rock Music
After debuting at No. 13 on the Hot 100 chart earlier this month, “Steal My Girl” dropped to No. 46 last week and climbs back up to No. 40 on this week’s tally. The single previews the group’s fourth studio set, Four, due out Nov. 17.
On Thursday, One Direction announced a whole new stadium tour for 2015, following their successful Where We Are trek last year. The new run kicks off on June 10, 2015 in Vienna and heads over to North America on July 9 of next year.
