One Direction visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! to celebrate the release of their aptly titled fourth album, Four, on Thursday. Let’s dive straight into the lengthy interview (videos down below) and everything we learned about the world’s favorite boy band:
— Liam is most likely to miff the lyrics during a performance. “Sometimes you’ll be caught reading someone’s sign, and you’ll start to sing what’s on the sign,” he admitted.
— Zayn’s most likely to disappear for days without contacting his bandmates.
— Everyone’s excited for Zayn’s marriage — particularly for his bachelor party (or, as the Brits say, his “stag night.”) Kimmel’s waiting for his invite.
— It’s hard to joke around when you have millions and millions of fans. Comments quickly get taken out of context and taken too seriously. (Although you have screwed up before for sure, guys.)
— The band voted Harry “most likely to go bald first.”
— One Direction has gotten some weird gifts from fans — (non-magic) mushrooms with the band’s faces drawn on and googly eyes added; a hermit crab. Strange stuff.
— Moms are sometimes bigger Directioners than their kids. “Sometimes they almost push [their kids] out of the way,” Harry reflected. “Sometimes the kid doesn’t even wanna be there; the mum’s just brought the kid as like a scapegoat,” Liam added.
— 1D visited Johnny Depp’s house once. “He’s got a few houses,” Niall clarified, then joked: “And we had a drink in each one.” Liam said one of Depp’s homes is a big music studio. “He’s got all these cool guitars and stuff in there, and showed us some recordings he’d done with some people — it was so interesting, so crazy. You just find yourself in the most surreal situations.”
— The band also met the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last week. “It’s like … they’re really nice,” Harry said. “What an opening statement,” Liam laughed.
— And Four was recorded on tour in “a little trailer thing that we have with us” and in hotel rooms.

One Direction closed the visit by taking the #cutestselfieever (Kimmel’s hashtag) a slew of Candyland-ish items, stuffed animals, kittens, puppies, a pony dressed as a unicorn, little girls dressed as ballerinas, and a baby dressed as … a cherry. You know what they say — #goviralorgohome (do they say that??):
News recently hit that 1D will perform on Saturday Night Live‘s Dec. 20 episode, hosted by Amy Adams. The band did SNL back in December 2013, where they joined in on Paul Rudd’s guest host monologue, along with Anchorman bros Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, and David Koechner. (In addition to SNL, 1D will get a primetime special on Dec. 23 on NBC.
In non-1D news, Kimmel was musically on fire this week. In addition to a new edition of the unmissable “Celebrity Mean Tweets,” he had Jessie J swung by on Thursday; she performed “Masterpiece” and, with 2 Chainz, “Burnin’ Up.”
Thus concludes the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday night dictionary. Take care now.
