“Feel Good” producer Gryffin is no stranger to the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. His pop-tinged productions with Daya, Elley Duhe, Bipolar Sunshine and more have all landed in the listing’s ranks. But his latest vocal co-star could just launch him into a new stratosphere.
Carly Rae Jepsen is a bonafide pop star, and “OMG” is shiny and delightful, with all of its radio-friendly tropes of rhythmic guitar breakdowns and distant shouts of “hey.” We also love the use of dynamics between the playful, textural verses and the ecstatic hook.
Jepsen called Gryffin a “kindred spirit” in the studio, and Gryffin called the “OMG” sessions “one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had in making a record.”
“Getting to work with Carly Rae Jepsen was such an honor, as I’ve been a big fan of her work for a long time,” the producer continues in a press release. “I’m so happy with how the track seamlessly blends both of our styles. I hope everybody loves it as much as we do and feels the fun, summery energy of the record.”
“OMG” is the third single from Gryffin’s forthcoming debut album Gravity, following previously-released tracks “Hurt People” with Aloe Blacc and “All You Need To Know” with Slander and Calle Lehmann. Gryffin announced a fall tour in support of the album. “OMG” is out now on Darkroom / Geffen Records. Listen to it below.
