Official HIGE DANdism‘s “I LOVE…” leads the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for the second week in a row, on the chart dated Feb. 10 to 16. Points from physical sales and look-ups joined the other metrics that shot the new single by the “Pretender” band to the top spot last week.
“I LOVE…” rules radio airplay, streaming, and look-ups, with figures for streaming (from 5,800,595 to 7,023,425 streams), downloads (from 31,194 to 36,897 units), and video views (3,338,750 to 4,621,488 plays) all increasing from the week before.
The release of the CD and the band’s promotional appearances in various media have boosted the digital metrics of the chart’s measurement, and this positive cycle between physical and digital is expected to continue. HIGE DAN still has eight songs charting in the Japan Hot 100, with four in the top 10.
King Gnu shared their fiery new music video for “Doron” on Feb. 14, an hour before they appeared on the popular music program Music Station to perform the song live on TV for the first time. The video racked up 2,760,181 views in just over two days to come in at No. 8 for the metric, adding points to the already-strong total from downloads and streaming.
The song jumps 33-6 on the latest chart, joining the long-running hit “Hakujitsu” in the top 10, with the latter still going strong in downloads, streaming and video views to hold at No. 3. Like HIGE DAN, King Gnu currently has seven songs charting in the top 100, with two in the top 10.
The explosive popularity of the anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba continues to fuel its theme song, “Gurenge” by LiSA. The track rises a notch to No. 4, returning to this position after five weeks. CD sales surpassed 80,000 copies this week after constantly adding over 2,000 copies each week from December last year. Downloads and streaming also continue to revive each time they dip, and the track has been enjoying long-lasting popularity since last spring.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups, audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, dHits, Uta Pass and Spotify, plus karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING.
