Originally due May 30, Obie Trice’s sophomore album, “Second Round’s on Me,” will now arrive Aug. 15 via Eminem’s Shady Records imprint. The set features guest appearances from 50 Cent, Trey Songz, Trick Trick and Nate Dogg and boasts production by Eminem, Jonathan “JR” Rotem and Akon, among others.
The first single is “Snitch” featuring Akon. The Van Halen-sampling cut “Wanna Know,” which Trice leaked last summer, has already been featured on HBO’s “Entourage.”
“Second Round’s on Me” will be the follow-up to Trice’s 2003 debut “Cheers,” which bowed at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 904,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
“I’m keeping the whole bar theme going,” says Trice. “I developed lyrically. I’m talking about a lot of things that are important in the black community. It shows my growth as an artist and as a person.”
