New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman will be the featured speaker at the 20th annual Entertainment Law Initiative event Jan. 26 at the New World Stages at Worldwide Plaza in New York.
The Grammy Week event gathers the top entertainment attorneys to honor their own, as well as hear from thought leaders. As the highest-ranking law enforcement officer for the state of New York, Schneiderman has led the fight to protect New Yorkers by suing to block the travel bans, leading a coalition to defend the Clean Power Plan, intervening to defend the Affordable Care Act, and defending the rights of sanctuary cities. His efforts to curtail ticket scalping in New York led to nearly $7 million dollars in settlements from ticket brokers so far.
The program also includes the announcement of the scholarship recipients for the annual writing competition for law students on a legal topic facing the music industry. First prize is a $10,000 scholarship and tickets and travel to the Jan. 28 Grammy Awards. The runner-up receives a $2,500 scholarship.
