While backstage at Madison Square Garden, K-pop quintet NU’EST sat down with Billboard backstage at KCON 2019 New York to play “First, Best, Last, Worst.” During the game, the five men — Aron, Baekho, JR, Minhyun, and Ren — shared some of their early impressions of one another, their feelings about their hard times and more.
When asked about their first thoughts on one another, Baekho said he remembers how LA-born and raised Aron had a hard time adjusting to South Korea’s cold winters after he moved to the country to pursue a career as a K-pop star, while Aron said he was grateful for the other members helping him learn Korean and adjust to the culture.
The group also addressed the worst period of their career, with Baekho saying that their post-debut period after appearance opportunities became scarce gave him a hard time. Luckily, however, the group had a resurgence in recent years and have become one of the most prominent boy bands currently active in the K-pop world. NU’EST recently saw their highest-ever album rank on the World Albums chart, where Happily Ever After peaked at No. 8 in May.
In the video, which you can watch in full above, the members of NU’EST shared some of their song recommendations for listeners looking to hear more of their discography beyond their newest singles, and also discussed who had to pay for food for the rest of the band after a bet.
