As predicted last week, Nogizaka46’s “Synchronicity” jumps to No. 1 on the latest Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart, dated April 23 to 29, after selling 1,188,052 CDs in its first week. The second million-seller for the J-pop girl group comes in at No. 1 for physical sales, look-ups and Twitter mentions, while also performing well in streaming (No. 3), downloads (No. 4), radio airplay (No. 6), and video views (No. 24).
Singer-songwriter Hikaru Utada’s “Play a Love Song” debuts at No. 4 on the Japan Hot 100, powered by downloads (No. 1) and radio (No. 3). “Lemon” by Kenshi Yonezu cedes the top spot for downloads, where it sat for 10 consecutive weeks, but returns to No. 1 for video views and remains at No. 2 on the Japan Hot 100 for the fourth week in a row, eighth week overall.
Like Utada’s digital release, TWICE’s “Wake Me Up” also debuted in the top 10 without the help of physical sales points. The song accumulated points in a balanced way, coming in at No. 3 for video views, No. 8 for Twitter, No. 15 for downloads, and No. 18 for streaming.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and audio streams from Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOK, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, Recochoku provided by Gfk Japan, as well as streaming counts based on lyrics displayed on PetitLyrics.
