Japan’s Nogizaka46 continues its string of releases with a new music video for “Anastasia,” the girl group’s new song featuring its second-generation members.
The nine second-generation members were scheduled to perform its Yoyogi 1st Gymnasium concert on Friday (March 6), but had to cancel due to coronavirus concerns and live-streamed via SHOWROOM instead.
The “Anastasia” music video was premiered during the live-stream. Shot in early February near the sea in Futtsu, Chiba, the video depicts the young women carrying out a plan to raise the “2nd-gen flag” atop the intricate viewing platform overlooking Tokyo Bay. Watch below:
“Anastasia” is a track included in one of the limited first editions of Nogizaka46’s upcoming 25th single, “Shiawase no hogoshoku.” The members broke down in tears after the shoot, as the video was the last for departing member Kotoko Sasaki, who was part of the group for seven years.
The video for “Anastasia” was helmed by Shuuto Ito, a director of commercials and music videos responsible for the visuals for the group’s “Hakumaisama,” “Igai BREAK,” “Live-shin” and promotional videos for individual members.
