Nogizaka46‘s “Kimi ni shikarareta” (“You scolded me”) shoots to the top of the Billboard Japan Hot 100, dated Sept. 20 to 26, selling 658,176 copies in its first week. The popular girl group’s 28th single climbed 31-1 on this week’s chart after ruling physical sales and look-ups, while also coming in at No. 2 for Twitter mentions and No. 3 for radio.
First-week sales for the group’s latest track are on par with its predecessor, “Gomenne Fingers Crossed” (704,346 copies), and the one before that, “Boku wa boku wo suki ni naru” (678,684 copies). While the group hasn’t enjoyed the same degree of million-copy launches like they had for several years in the past, the recent figures show that the current members are still supported by more than enough loyal fans looking forward to their releases.
back number’s “Suiheisen” logs its fourth consecutive week at No. 1 for streaming, though it slips a bit figure-wise from 8,156,975 weekly streams last week to 8,049,073 this week. BTS’ “Permission to Dance” — which had been at No. 1 for seven weeks in a row before “Suiheisen” took its place — is on the rise again at 8,004,560 streams this week from last week’s 7,465,834, which comes to a difference of only about 44,000 streams between it and back number’s track.
In fact, BTS’ songs have all improved figure-wise this week, thanks to the release of the South Korean superstars’ collaborative single with Coldplay, “My Universe,” which debuts at No. 9 on the Japan Hot 100. The highly anticipated collab dropped digitally on Sept. 24 and racked up 20,948 downloads during the three days it had during this chart week. With the debut of “My Universe,” BTS now have four songs charting in the top 10.
The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, audio streams, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups and karaoke data.
