NOFX are hardly strangers to tasteless comments and creative choices. Back in 2015, they included a photo of Bill Cosby on their all-access passes at Fat Wreck Chord’s anniversary shows.
The most recent eyebrow-raising remarks took place at their Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival set in Las Vegas on Sunday (May 27). In a video posted to Twitter by radio station X1075’s Dave Farra and Jason Mahoney, Fat Mike and guitarist Eric Melvin partake in some offensive banter over the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas on October 1 that left 59 people dead and hundreds of other injured.
“We played a song about Muslims and we didn’t get shot. Hooray,” Fat Mike says, to which Melvin responds, “I guess you only get shot in Vegas if you are in a country band.”
“At least they were country fans and not punk rock fans,” Fat Mike announces, much to the disdain of the audience. “You were all thinking it!” he defended himself with.

NOFX thought it would be “hilarious” to joke about the October 1 shootings while on stage in Las Vegas. They said “at least they were country fans and not punk rock fans”. This is disgusting and callous. We will never support anything involving this band ever again. pic.twitter.com/am3R8QJIE6
