Noah Cyrus ruminates on lost friends, mistakes made and a lack of a love life on “Lonely.”
The rising star’s new song dropped at midnight, and sees the youngster open her soul on her troubles.
Take the opening verse, “I’m slowly killin’ myself/I’m trying so hard, at the back of the shelf,” and later, “I don’t have a romantic life And everyone’s dying So I keep on trying to make them proud before they’re gone.”
Despite its confronting subject matter, “Lonely” is essentially a tender song that showcases her vocals against a piano and a gospel backdrop.
It marks Cyrus’s second solo single of the year, after her reflective “July.”
