With The Marathon Clothing store temporarily closing its brick-and-mortar doors, Lauren London reposted a message Friday from her late partner’s store that announced construction was underway for the Nipsey Hussle Tower near the business’ Slauson Avenue location.
“As a notice to the public, we’re putting up a gate on Thursday, August 1st, 2019 to enclose the plaza at 3420 W. Slauson Ave to start the early development stages of the forthcoming Nipsey Hussle Tower to commemorate and to honor the life and legacy of Nipsey,” read the statement. “The Marathon Store will remain closed, but you can shop online at TheMarathonClothing.com.”
With what would have been Nipsey’s 34th birthday fast approaching (Aug. 15), TMZ reported that the LAPD will be on “high alert” for gatherings around the store in tribute to the late Los Angeles rapper. His Marathon Clothing store put out an announcement saying there are no plans to host any events endorsed by the shop surrounding Neighborhood Nip’s birthday.
