As tipped here last month, Barenaked Ladies have wrapped work on their first kids album. “Snacktime” is due May 6 via the band’s own Desperation Records label and includes 24 new songs.
Among them are “Raisings,” “The Ninjas,” “Here Come the Geese,” “Bad Day” and “Allergies,” all topics germane to group members’ 11 children, who range in age from three months to 12.
“We wrote just as hard for these as we did for any other record, but you have to think from a kids’ perspective,” bassist Jim Creeggan told Billboard.com. “You have to really refine it so it’s palatable to them — and also fun.”
BNL, which is presently at sea on its third Ships and Dips music cruise, plans to begin writing its new album in the coming weeks, with an eye on a summer release.
