The Nimbit direct-to-fan platform for artists is now able to create profiles on Apple’s Ping social network for iTunes for any member artists. Apple has special Ping profile settings for artists, but getting one can be somewhat difficult as Apple need to authorize them.
Nimbit is stepping in by letting artists fill out a form on the Nimbit site, and the company handles the rest. Nimbit also provides digital music distribution services so artists can sell their music through iTunes.
One thing Nimbit can’t do is get around Apple’s censors, though. Apple released an “Artist Guide and Best Practices” document outline what can and can’t be included in artists Ping profiles, which AllThingsD got its hands on. Among the no-nos: “pornography, hate speech, racism, nudity, or any references to or depictions of drug use.”
