Music is art, depending on who you ask, and Nicolas Jaar is certainly in the category of DJs who consider the craft a bit deeper than the rest.
The Chilean-born, New York City-based composer and producer has built quite a reputation. His choice of vocal samples is never the usual, his choice of instrumentation classic and complex. He is a mood-driven musician, to be sure. His debut LP Space Is Only Noise plays as a collage of sound, quite minimal and ambient, like shadows moving across walls at hyper speeds.

Of course, it’s his series of EPs that followed that really put him in the hearts of house heads worldwide. He was honored with the title of BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix of the year in 2012 for his work inspired by “how gaps in time change our way of perceiving.” Lofty stuff.
Likewise, Nicolas Jaar live performances are strange and seductive experiences. Lucky for fans throughout North America and Europe, Jaar just announced 34 tour dates.
