Nicky Romero has been feeling the synthesizer a lot lately, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten the brilliance of big guitars.
He got back in the studio with his friend John Christian, a first time since the pair released “New Level” in 2014, and while “Iconic” has a beautiful disco refrain and plays well with club dynamics, the song is naturally high-energy.
“Raise the f—k up,” the vocal hook commands. “Iconic” is a throw back to the best moments of big room electro house: It’s got a touch of retro vibe in its filtered guitar riffs, but the massive drums and bombastic build are all modern bang.
