In a New York Times article published Thursday, this year’s VMA host Miley Cyrus had her own criticisms for Minaj, saying, “I don’t respect your statement because of the anger that came with it.”
Minaj first previewed the news of her performance with an image of a sonogram showing a VMA Moonman statue, a response to rumors she might be pregnant. She has since removed the post, but it was included in a press release as well.
