Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra got engaged in July, and are about to tie the knot in a multi-day celebration in India. Ahead of their big day, the couple (as well as Joe Jonas and Chopra’s mom and brother) chatted with Vogue about all the events that led up to their engagement.
The feature tells of Priyanka’s rollercoaster rise to fame, the couple’s early meetings and the important events that marked their blooming romance. It also gives new details on the proposal itself.
After their third real date together, Jonas called his mother to tell her that he was going to marry Chopra. He closed down a Tiffany & Co. in London to choose a ring with his brothers — and just a few weeks later — he was down on one knee, proposing to her in Crete, Greece on what she thought was a birthday trip.
“I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?” Jonas told Vogue. “No joke — she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence.” He continued through her shock: “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.”
The couple already participated in a roka (an Indian engagement ceremony) in August. Their wedding will consist of both a traditional Indian ceremony and Christian wedding service at a palace Rajasthan.
Jonas and Chopra’s complete love story will appear in the January issue of Vogue. Read a selection from it at vogue.com.
