Jonas explains that their “very true…untold story” is of the “deep dark places one can go when exploring a creative space and doing anything they want, anywhere in the world.” In his story, Jonas says that the song first came together two or three years ago, when he called Mustard from a rollercoaster at Six Flags.
“And I was actually about to jump off a bridge,” adds Mustard, “From bungee jumping.” So then Jonas suggested to him that they collaborate on a song. “No I hate your music, it sucks,” Mustard told Jonas, according to their tale. “I would never listen to your music so I would never work with you.”
But, Mustard adds, he admitted that he liked Jonas’ music “a little bit” so he agreed to collaborating on a song called “Anywhere” because Jonas was on a roller coaster. “You never know what’s gonna happen because you could crash on a rollercoaster and I can die bungee jumping right now,” Mustard says. “But it did happen, cause we’re here.” So the pair went to outer space to film the music video on a green screen – since the song is called “Anywhere.”
Speaking of the recording of the track, Jonas shares that it was “really strange” because on that day, all of Migos was hanging out in the studio. “They were like, ‘Oh, this track is crazy. We wish we could jump on,’” Jonas says. “And we were both like, ‘Nah!’”
