Christina Grimmie‘s murder — as she signed autographs for fans following a concert Friday night in Orlando — has raised a lot of questions about venue security and whether performers can possibly feel safe in the aftermath. Nick Jonas has those questions too, and he said in a radio interview Tuesday (June 14) that it’s a discussion that began even before the weekend’s tragedies.
“I was talking to my manager about it the other day. Interestingly enough, in an interview a while ago, he mentioned that he thinks that security needs to be increased at venues,” Jonas told New York’s KTU morning show. “Just something that should be looked at across the country and across the world. I think it’s obviously very poignant.
“I don’t know if I can comment for the whole situation of what needs to be changed to fix the situation, but my heart goes out to Christina’s family,” he added about the late Voice alum and YouTube star. “It’s just so heartbreaking. She introduced me at the iHeartRadio festival this last year, and I had a chance to talk with her backstage and meet her for a minute, and she was so sweet and just kind of a light, a real positive energy.”
