On Friday (April 24), the Broadway star’s wife Amanda Kloots took to her Instagram Stories to share a video update on Cordero’s condition, noting that he had “two negative COVID tests,” as People reports. Cordero tested positive for the virus earlier this month, resulting in the amputation of his right leg last weekend.
Kloots, who appeared in the videos alongside the couple’s 10-month-old son Elvis Eduardo, added that “the virus is out of his system and now we’re just dealing with recovery and getting his body back from all the repercussion of the virus.”
Cordero is known for portraying Earl Hunterson in Waitress and has been in various other Broadway shows, including Rock of Ages, A Bronx Tale and Bullets Over Broadway, for which he received a Tony nomination.
Kloots has been providing regular Instagram updates about her husband’s health status. Earlier this week, she posted a video of herself outside of Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where Cordero is being treated.
“I want to send a huge THANK YOU to every nurse and doctor, these Health Hero’s, taking care of not only my guy but all the COVID-19 patients,” Kloots captioned the clip. “They are truly amazing, incredibly smart people who are risking their lives everyday to save others.”
