Nick Carter‘s wife, Lauren Kitt, has suffered a miscarriage, the Backstreet Boys member sadly revealed on Twitter on Monday evening.
“God give us peace during this time. I really was looking forward to meeting her after 3 months,” he wrote. “I’m heart broken.”

In response to a Twitter user sending condolences, Carter mentioned that it “was a little sister for Odin,” referring to the couple’s first child, their 2-year-old son.
He also expressed doubts about being able to take the stage in Peru, but later let his fans know that he would, in fact, be performing: “This will be hard, but for the love of my fans here in Lima I’ll be on the stage tonight.”

Carter and Kitt, who wed in 2014, have faced this heartbreak before: while Carter was competing on Dancing With the Stars in 2015, Kitt talked about the difficulties of suffering a miscarriage in a pre-taped video package.
“It was really hard on Nick,” Kitt said in the video. “Just watching him get so excited about something, and then see him so hurt. That was hard.”
