When Zhu and Ekali came together on “Blame,” the pair delivered a sonic boom of experimental bass. It was dark and sensual, subtle and hard-hitting, but there was always this underlying current of frenetic energy begging to bubble to the surface. Now, NGHTMRE brings that biting edge to life with a bold remix that melts drum’n’bass rhythms with dubstep growls and neon synths.
NGHTMRE’s version puts meat on the original’s bones. It’s not as haunting, but it’s just as magical, and definitely more festival-ready for the forthcoming summer season.
It’s a great counterpart, out everywhere now on OWSLA, and you can listen to it in full below.
