Australian pop queen Kylie Minogue will manage the notable achievement of having two “new” albums, two DVDs, and a VHS video all released in the U.K. on Monday (Nov. 18), all of which follows the appearance earlier this week of her new U.K. single, “Come Into My World.”
This new round of activity includes Parlophone’s special edition of her latest album “Fever,” which adds a second CD of eight tracks. It includes the mix of her own “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” chart-topper and New Order’s “Blue Monday,” first performed at the 2002 Brit Awards and titled “Can’t Get Blue Monday Out of My Head.” The disc also includes mixes by Fischerspooner, Ruff and Jam, Roger Sanchez and others, plus “Whenever You Feel Like It,” from the “Scooby Doo” soundtrack.
“Fever” is at No. 72 in its 54th week on the U.K. album chart, and is certified quadruple platinum by the IFPI in the region for shipments of 1.2 million copies.
Also out Monday is Jive’s “Greatest Hits.” The set collects 22 singles from her time with the label in the late 1980s and early ’90s, when she amassed 20 top-20 U.K. chart entries. This release also features a bonus disc, including a new mix of the 1989 U.K. No. 1 hit “Hand on Your Heart” by WIP and a selection of rare and previously unissued remixes.
The first of the DVDs is Parlophone’s “Kylie Fever 2002 — In Concert Live in Manchester,” taped at one of the British shows on her highly successful Fever tour of the U.K and Europe. Thirty minutes of backstage footage are included. Meanwhile, Jive’s “Greatest Hits” DVD contains unseen footage from her earlier era plus different versions of some videos, while the longform VHS version will contain the regular videos to Minogue’s initial hits.
It doesn’t stop there, because Hodder & Stoughton are this month publishing “La La La,” a book of “Kylie visuals and text” by her creative director and friend William Baker, with handwritten notes by Minogue and some 200 photos.
As for the “Come Into My World” single, it features a live edit of “Love at First Sight” and a live version of “Fever” on one CD, with Ashtrax and Robbie Rivera mixes of the lead song, plus its video, on the other. Minogue is due to appear at a series of U.S. radio station-sponsored holiday concerts during December.
