Jay-Z fans have both new and old music to enjoy this week. “Brooklyn (Go Hard),” the rapper’s collaboration with Santogold from the “Notorious” soundtrack, leaked online yesterday (Dec. 1), while nine vintage Jay-Z videos went up today for mobile download on Thumbplay.com.
“Brooklyn (Go Hard)” was produced by Kanye West and is the first single from “Notorious,” due Jan. 13 from Bad Boy.
While a spokesperson for Jay-Z was unsure if the MC himself will shoot a video for “Brooklyn (Go Hard),” graphic designer Evan Roth produced and released a clip yesterday (Dec. 1) with an open code allowing viewers to access the clip and create their own designs in Roth’s Typographic Illustration style.
Roth was asked to produce the video by RED & the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. The clip went live as part of the World AIDS Day commemoration on red.MSN.com.
“Notorious,” due three days after the soundtrack, chronicles the life and death of rapper Notorious B.I.G., played by newcomer Jamal “Gravy” Woolard. Angela Bassett stars as the rapper’s mother, Voletta Wallace, while Derek Luke plays Sean Combs.
Meanwhile, the Thumbplay deal includes videos for “Blue Magic,” “Dirt Off Your Shoulder,” “Do It Again (Put Ya Hands Up),” “Excuse Me Miss,” “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me),” “I Know,” “Izzo (H.O.V.A.),” “Money, Cash, H**s” and “Roc Boys (And The Winner Is).”
A new Jay-Z studio album is expected early next year.
