“In My Place,” the first single from Coldplay’s sophomore Capitol album “A Rush of Blood to the Head,’ will debut Monday (June 17) on AOL Music’s “First Listen” program and Netscape Music. The video for the track will premiere June 22 on Yahoo! Music. In the band’s native U.K., “In My Place” will bow Monday night on BBC Radio 1. The band’s official Web site will begin hosting a stream on Tuesday.
As first reported here last month, the 11-track “A Rush of Blood to the Head” is due Aug. 27 and a day earlier internationally. The set is the follow-up to 2000’s “Parachutes,” which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and has sold 1.3 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Stateside sales of the album were propelled by the multi-format smash single “Yellow,” which dented eight different Billboard singles charts, peaking at No. 6 on the Modern Rock Tracks tally.
The band will launch a North American club tour in August, to be followed by a longer trek through the region in September. Coldplay performs June 22 in London as part of the David Bowie-curated Meltdown festival, and has a host of European festival and headlining appearances on tap through mid-July.
